Collins Appointed to NDAA Conference Committee

September 19, 2023

Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.) released the following statement upon accepting an appointment to serve as a Conferee from the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology during the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference with the U.S. Senate:

"As a freshman congressman, it is an honor to serve on this Conference Committee and fight for the most conservative NDAA in decades," said Rep. Collins. "As the House works out differences with the Senate, our top priorities must be lethality, supporting our troops, and reining in the woke bureaucracy that has taken over our military."

Background

For legislation to be presented to the President of the United States, both the House and Senate must agree on the final version of the bill. This final agreement is often reached through negotiations at a Conference Committee among a select few appointed Representatives and Senators, known as Conferees.

The NDAA is legislation that Congress passes annually to authorize military funding and set defense policy.
