Collins to Honor Fallen Henry County Police Officer During National Police Week

Washington, D.C.–This week, Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.) will honor Henry County Police Officer Paramhans Desai at a prayer vigil and flag laying ceremony hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson as part of National Police Week. 

Police Officer Paramhans Desai was shot in the line of duty on November 4th, 2021, in McDonough, Georgia, while responding to a domestic violence call. He later succumbed to his gunshot wounds at a local hospital. In a final act of service, Officer Desai donated his organs, ultimately saving the lives of 11 individuals. 

"Our nation's law enforcement officers put their lives at risk every day in service to our communities," said Rep. Mike Collins. "It is my honor to lay a flag in memory of an American hero, Officer Paramhans Desai, who made the ultimate sacrifice."

Background

On May 14, 2024, a prayer vigil will take place on the House Steps followed by a flag laying ceremony at the House Triangle in Washington, D.C., directly after votes. 

The flags will remain on the House Triangle throughout the duration of National Police Week.
