Collins Unveils RAZOR Act to Ban Federal Government from Removing Texas Border Barriers
Washington, D.C.—Today, Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.) announced that he will introduce the Restricting Administration Zealots from Obliging Raiders (RAZOR) Act. The legislation would ban the federal government, including the U.S. Border Patrol, from removing or otherwise altering any state-constructed barriers installed to mitigate illegal immigration.
The bill comes following the Supreme Court's decision to affirm the Biden administration's policy directing the Border Patrol to cut razor wire installed by the state of Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Rep. Collins said, "President Biden is aiding and abetting illegal aliens who are swarming our border and raiding our country's resources. Why else would he try to stop the state of Texas from turning them back to Mexico? With the Supreme Court siding with the America Last policies of the Biden administration, Congress must stand with Governor Greg Abbott as he fights for the sovereignty of his state and our nation." Background
On January 22, 2024, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision to allow the federal government to temporarily remove razor wire installed by the state of Texas at known illegal immigrant hotspots.
The barbed wire was installed along the U.S.-Mexico border by Texas law enforcement at Governor Greg Abbott's direction to deter immigrants seeking to enter America illegally.
Since Joe Biden took office there have been more than 8 million illegal crossings nationwide, with at least 1.7 million known "gotaways." On the U.S. southern border alone there have been over 6.7 million who have crossed illegally, as well as 312 on the terrorist watchlist encountered by U.S. law enforcement.
